DSET is Abt's full-service technology, data, and innovation partner, offering expertise across the entire spectrum of data - from the initial capture, to data wrangling and analytics, and data visualization and dissemination. They combine deep experience in developing, conducting and capturing high-quality data via complex surveys with an ability to normalize, analyze and transform data into actionable insights.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this position will be based as a telecommuter for the foreseeable future. Only when Abt reopens offices to all employees will there be an expectation that new hires return to the geographical office to which they were hired.

Opportunity

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Drupal Developer to support the Data Science and Survey and Enabling Technologies Division. The candidate should have general programming experience and an understanding of one or more of the following: Drupal CMS, client and server side web programming in PHP, front end experience in HTML/CSS and JavaScript frameworks like Angular/Node/React/Vue, backend databases understanding in MySQL along with a good understanding of web design and usability. Experience in cloud environments such as AWS a plus. The developer will work closely with internal and external clients and serve as both a consultant and solutions provider. The developer must work with the solutions architect to define solutions to meet the business needs. The developer will assist in testing, quality assurance and post rollout troubleshooting and enhancements. Candidate should demonstrate a willingness to seek novel solutions to technology and business problems and the flexibility to acquire the necessary skills for implementation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Builds web applications using predefined template structures to respond to client needs
• Participates in client needs assessments, develops strategy and information architecture, including sitemaps and wireframes
• Development in Drupal and PHP including, but not limited to application development, web development and web services.
• Integration with JavaScript frameworks
• Integration of application with backend databases such as MySQL
• Supports clients' technical issues with web applications.
• Acts as liaison with internal partners and individual users to ensure positive web experience.
• Ensures information design and graphic design of web applications.
• Creates associated documentation for web applications.
• Ensures that all documents meet established content standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to pick up additional skills quickly

Preferred Qualifications

• Drupal
• Web and application development using PHP
• JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular/React/Vue
• HTML5 / CSS
• Version control repositories like Bitbucket
• Software development tools like Jira and Confluence
• A desire to write re-usable, readable code using the most up to date industry standards
• Strong communication skills, particularly in translating perceived needs into technical requirements
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS with (0-3) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
